Beach Bum games is a startup by founder of Playtika. I joined the company as employee number five and led the creative process of the first product - a backgammon app. You can find the game on google play, the appstore and on facebook.

BUILDING AN OFFICIAL WORLD SERIES
Our vision was to build an official world series of backgammon that allows people to participate in professional global tournaments just like Poker celebs and esports players.

The development process started with
a quick, high‐intensity research effort of reviewing existing board game applications, identifying leading design trends, common interaction patterns and social gaming features.

DEVISING THE
GAME PLAN
Following our initial research we started to formulate ideas and develop scenarios to support our objectives (and players' needs)
in a visual manner.
Progression - We decided that for stage one, the game would feature 6 rooms ranging from 'Rookie' to 'Legend' with different skill levels.
Room content - Inspired by the design of the board, we wanted each room to depict 6 alternating modes which will offer players the choice between playing a single game or
a multi-staged tournament.
Ranking system- In addition to the 6 rooms we also decided to have separate rooms for our leaderboard system, our trophy room and for each of our city-themed tournaments.
DEVELOPING THE
VISUAL LANGUAGE
Backgammon is a game for all senses. Depending on the board you play with (wood, felt, marble etc) the dice and checkers would move and sound differently.
To communicate this tangible experience in a meaningful way, I decided to create each room and board with a specific element in mind.
